Eugenia Moreeva (b.2004) is a multidisciplinary artist based in LA, originally from Moscow, Russia. Her practice encompasses painting, collage, mixed media, performance, sculpture as well as mediums mixed with and blended into each other. She is currently getting her BFA from California Institute of the Arts (Valencia, California).

She explores the topics of isolation, connection, trust, and, more generally, human experience on this planet that includes inhabiting human body, living in and dealing with man-made and natural forces much bigger than a single organism, processing inevitability of death at one’s personal end and urgent fragility even of things that by default seem so sturdy. With her art, Eugenia is trying to make sense of living in a seemingly well-rendered, well-organized and sane modern world that disguises temporary air-conditioned comfort as ultimate safety.

Some of her projects are louder and more open to everybody to interact with and are designed to gather community around them, while some of them remain more quiet, being made in the studio to be looked at only in shows and sometimes in the digital world. In CalArts community, for instance, Eugenia is known to have lived in a big egg for a week, burned a little house, let around 200 people paint her outfit from the color of hospitals into the color of war and built a very tall dinosaur with little dinosaurs in his head, among other things. But what happens in her actual art studio is actually a quiet, mysterious, many-hours-long-in-a-row process of shaping a vision into something others will be able to see and feel too.
